2006 ICAO General Meeting

At the ICAO GM, election for Vice-Presidents was taken place, and the newly elected ICAO Vice-Presidents are;
For Asian region, Mr. Hiroshi Tsuchiya, the executive director of JA-Zenchu of Japan; for African region, Mr. Joseph Mukasa from Uganda Cooperative Alliance of Uganda; for American region, Mr. Márcio Lopes de Freitas from OCB of Brazil; for European region, Mr. Eugen Tømte, director, Norsk Landbrukssamvirke (Federation of Norwegian Agricultural Cooperatives).

Being sole candidates for the Vice-Presidency, they were elected with recommendation of ICAO Secretary General and members’ approval without competitive election process. The newly elected Vice-Presidents are supposed to serve for four years (until 2010 ICAO GM).

At the ICAO GM, the venue and date for 2007 ICAO General Meeting was also decided at Singapore on October 17th, 2006.

Reports on ICAO activities during 2005 ~ 2006, financial position, and 2007 business plan were also presented by ICAO Secretary General.

The General Meeting was closed with introduction of the “World Farmers’ Charter” and open discussion on ICAO activities.
