ICAO has been actively involved in activating agricultural cooperative movement in Asia/Pacific region. This time, ICAO provided study visit program on Korean agricultural cooperative for Philippine cooperative leaders during 19-24 June 2006. 10 leaders from Federation of Free Farmers Cooperatives Inc. (FFFCI), including Mr. Leonard Q. Montemayor, FFFCI Chairman participated in the ICAO program. Mr. Montemayor said, "Korea and Philippine are situated in similar agricultural environments with agricultural market opening triggered by WTO/DDA, and FTA trends, we came here to find how Korean farmers are addressing this critical issues". After being presented on three major businesses of the NACF (Marketing & Supplies, Livestock, Banking) and Korean agriculture at the NACF Head Office, the participants had opportunities to visit agricultural marketing complexes, IT Center, an agricultural cooperative, and agricultural cooperative college.
